Exchanges
A couple of services have been of great help to The Roadhouse.
RadioDaddy is a great resource for podcast voiceovers. That intro at the beginning of each show? RadioDaddy. The sweeper voices? RadioDaddy. They’re a free voiceover exchange. In other words, you post a request for a voiceover in the forums, provide a script and some idea of the style, and another member records and posts the voiceover. The service is free to users (though certainly not free to maintain), asking only that you occasionally contribute a voiceover or two to the site.
Did you notice the Geek News Central promo in The Roadhouse 004? Hard to miss, huh. That’s from another service, PodcastPromos.com. Like RadioDaddy, PodcastPromos is an exchange. If you have a promo for your podcast, you can post a download link, allowing other podcasters to use it in their podcast.
Both services provide great tools for polishing up your podcast. In my case, they provide a break from my admittedly non-radio voice.
