Morning Props
I really love the near-immediacy of Technorati. This morning, my Technorati watchlist for The Roadhouse delivered the following in my feed reader from Douglas E. Welch at My Word with Douglas E. Welch.
Tony Steidler-Dennison searches the artists at GarageBand.com to come up with some excellent performers and bands who you have never heard before. These are local bands from Syracuse, NY, Charlotte, NC and all over the US. Steidler-Dennison is great a selecting the wheat from the chaff and presenting a well-thought-out playlist each week.
Thanks, Douglas. I appreciate both the subscription and the kind words. They keep me moving.
An unrelated note: if you’re not a subscriber to Michael Butler’s Rock and Roll Geek Show (where have you been?), you might at least listen in on tonight’s show. It looks like Michael and I are going to talk rock and roll live. I sent him an ID for his show and in the chain of emails that followed, I shared some of the many brushes with rock and roll greatness that resulted from a wild youth and 13 years of selling music for a living. He suggested that we have a Skype call for his show and I, of course, thought it was a great idea.
Of particular interest to him was a story about a Starz and Ted Nugent show in Des Moines, IA - one where Ted took a header and had to be carried off the stage. That might be surrounded by stories of Frank Zappa, John Mellencamp, Ozzy Osbourne, Poison, King Kobra, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many others. I know – most of it’s pretty far from the blues – but it should be fun to do and, I hope, fun to listen to.
