Listener Comments
Matt:
"Hey Tony. Just thought I would drop you a line and see if you
have considered doing a pod cast focusing on a particular artist. I
notice that some of the groups at garageband.com have multiple tracks
in multiple genres. It would also be interesting to hear from the
different artists. Just a thought."
Chris:
"Thanks for the show – I have been listening to Dave Raven for a
few months, and heard your podcast mentioned by him. I have downloaded
all your shows and am loving the music!"

Blues News
- April 16 – On this day in 1976, Boz Scaggs was knocked
unconscious by two bouncers outside of Antone’s after attempting to go
backstage to see the headliner, Bobby "Blue" Bland. The confrontation
began when Scaggs was not let backstage despite him claiming he was
invited by a member of Bland’s group.
- April 17 – On this day in 1952, Howlin’ Wolf entered
the Sun Recording Studio in Memphis and recorded "Bluebird",
"(Well)That’s Alright", and "Saddle My Pony" with legendary Sun founder
Sam Phillips at the controls. Phillips later said of Howlin’ Wolf in
that session, "His eyes would light up, you’d see the veins on his neck
and, buddy, there was NOTHING on his mind but that song. He sang with
his damn soul."
- April 20 – On this day in 1966, Albert King backed by
Booker T. & The MGs, recorded a minor key number called "Laundromat
Blues" (Stax 190) in the Stax Studios in Memphis. It reached number 29
on the R&B chart and has become one of Albert King’s signature
songs.
- April 23 – On this day in 1955, Ray Charles returned
to Florida long enough to record "Drown In My Own Tears", and
"Hallelujah, I Love Her So", in the studios of WMAQ Miami, for Atlantic
Records. That day Ray also recorded the gospel drenched "A Fool For
You" which eventually reached #1 on the R&B chart. Not a bad day’s
recording work, huh?
