Listener Comments

Paul:

About 2 weeks ago i discovered podcasting and as i like blues music, i found your "roadhouse" feeds.

It’s really a great pleasure to listen to such good music,
man !! Here in Switzerland no "regular" radio station broadcasts that
style of music.

Good narrative on KFMH

Free-form programming that included lots of blues.

KAAY Link

50,000 Watts, 1090 AM.

Clyde Clifford, classic radio, best experienced with a transistor radio under the pillow (same with KMOX and Cardinal baseball).

Michael:

I’m new to podcasting, maybe a month.  Somehow I stumbled across Roadhouse and
at first thought I wouldn’t like it.  My favorite music is ‘Acoustic,
Singer/Songwriter’ otherwise known as FOLK.  But I am slowly turning into a
Blues fan.  I’m loading my Gmini (no EyePod here) for a trip from the East
Coast to the Rockies later this summer.  Roadhouse should give me many hours
of something bright and new to listen to.  Keep up the good work.

p.s. it is nice to hear a podcast without 4-letter words.

Bar liner

Mark Easton Limousine - Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (14:42)

"Long Gone"

From the CD "Greener "

JJ Blues Band - Horsens, Denmark (17:54)

"We’ll Play the Blues"

Podcasting News

Debut of Adam Curry’s Podshow on Friday the 13th.

Wall Street Journal article on newspapers turning to podcasting.

Newspapers and magazines such as the Seattle
Post-Intelligencer, Philadelphia Daily News, Washington Post and Forbes
have started podcasts in recent weeks. Their programming varies widely.
Some simply summarize the day’s news, while others aim for more of a
radio-show feel with interviews of reporters and newsmakers. A few
provide clips from professionally recorded radio programs, but most of
the podcasts are low-budget, low-tech affairs hosted by print
journalists who often have scant broadcast experience.

Crossroads liner

The Bluesters - San Diego, California (34:15)

"The Devil and Robert Johnson"

Fat Vinny and the Wiseguys - Altoona, Pennsylvania (38:14)

"Barroom Floor"

    Hello Tony,

I just wanted to say I love your show and look forward to it every week. I started listening around show 8 and plan to go back in the archives to listen back to the older Roadhouses as well.

If I may suggest a small change to the mechanics of the podcast, I would like the genre of the show toe Podcast instead of Blues. I believe many folks are like me and use the genre tag as the primary way to organize podcasts.

Thanks for offering such a high quality and content rich show for all lovers of the Blues!

Thanks for the nice comments. It’s always nice to see that people are enjoying the (fun) fruits of my labor.

I’m currently using lame from the command line to encode the show to mp3 and write the id3 tags in a single shot. It works great, but it does have the lone drawback of not allowing a Podcast genre when writing the tags. I haven’t looked into whether this is in some way configurable. I’ll try to do that this week.

If nothing else, I know there are several id3-related apps for Linux. I may move to one of those apps, as I’ve wanted to tag the show as “Podcast” from the very beginning.

Thanks. This was a fun one to put together.

And, in one of life’s funny moments, it’s Tony not Tonu ;)
