Wish I’d Thought Of That
Man, I wish I’d thought of this. I have a good relationship with Wiley & Sons, too, given that my first book was published by them.
"Podcasting: Do It Yourself" is by Todd Cochrane, the voice behind GeekNewsCentral. Todd’s been cranking out podcasts pretty regularly since October, 2004. I’ve had him in my subscriptions list since I started following podcasting. While I don’t necessarily listen to each and every show, I do enjoy those I get a chance to hear. Given his early adoption of podcasts, he’s a good person to represent our favorite new medium to the world. And, it’s good to see that he’s managed to pull together 312 pages covering all the important aspects of podcasting:
Got something to tell the world? Want unlimited listening options? Podcasting makes it happen. It’s the hottest communication trend of the twenty-first century, and one of the first guys to jump on board is ready to get you started. Todd helps you choose software, subscribe to the best podcasts, produce one with equipment you already have, record and distribute your shows√Ǩeven explore the geeky stuff. Whether you’re producing a podcast or listening to one, podcasting puts you in charge.
The only small problem I can see with this book is that it may become outdated very quickly. We all know how quickly the podcasting world is moving. This volume can really only cover the basics as we know them today – which will certainly change in mere months or weeks. From the other side, though, this could be writer’s dream – a book that requires constant revision. With good "out of the box" sales on the first edition, he could have a franchise on his hands with new editions annually.
Congratulations, Todd. I’ll look forward to the release.
