Transparent Changes
Posted in Uncategorized on 29 June 2005

I’m making still more small and mostly transparent changes to the site. Sometime today, I’ll be pointing the Feedburner feed to the real site feed. WordPress recognizes media files in an entry and adds all the appropriate enclosure information to the feed. That makes it seem a bit redundant to hand-roll the current mp3 feed. […]

Midnight Snack
Posted in Uncategorized on 29 June 2005

I pulled together another show for Adam Curry’s Podshow this evening – a little half-hour special with music from the past five shows. After I submitted it, I decided to encode and post another version just so you could hear it, too. Consider it a little midnight snack, if you will. There’s no new music, […]

Let’s Not Do That Again
Posted in Uncategorized on 27 June 2005

I’m sure you’ve had those days where nothing, absolutely nothing, went right. For me, that day was Saturday. Roadhouse 019 took 13 hours to put together. I was just completely unfocused, disorganized and highly prone to stupid mistakes. Remember, I record the show pretty much straight through, so that only occupied less than an hour […]

The Roadhouse 019
Posted in Uncategorized on 25 June 2005

New! Bittorrent Download The Roadhouse 019 is available for download from the above image link. It’s officially summer in the US - time to go fishing for the biggest fish in the big pond of blues. The catch o’ the week includes Kimbel Street, Red Hot Blues Sisters, Kisen, Farkle, Nuthin’ Special and many more. […]

Butler And Page On KYOU
Posted in Uncategorized on 23 June 2005

Michael Butler has a fantastic interview with Stephen Page of KYOURadio on his latest Rock ‘n’ Roll Geek Show. He draws some great comparisons between the failures of the current radio industry and the current music industry. This is an interview you shouldn’t miss. I’ve been talking with Stephen for the past month or so […]

Feeling Somehow Younger
Posted in Uncategorized on 22 June 2005

When I was a teen, calling the local radio station to make a dedication was a very cool thing to do. I was actually more often the dedicator than the dedicatee, but it didn’t really make a difference. It was cool just to be able to influence the selections played on the radio. I got […]

Bittorrent Feed
Posted in Uncategorized on 21 June 2005

The BitTorrent feed is live in the right sidebar, as a link just under the Feedburner feed. If your client supports BT, please take a few minutes to unsubscribe from the .mp3 feed and subscribe to the BT feed. Since the real strength of BT is sheer numbers, your new subscription will help all who […]

Feedback On The Torrent
Posted in Uncategorized on 20 June 2005

As you can see, I’ve added Bit Torrent links to the podcasts remaining on the front page. If you’re used to downloading the shows directly and have BT installed, using the BT links would be greatly appreciated. If you’ve used the BT download links, I’d also really appreciate your feedback on the experience. Send me […]

The Roadhouse 018
Posted in Uncategorized on 18 June 2005

New! Bittorrent Download The Roadhouse 018 is available for download from the above image link. Sample the home-brewed blues from Roadhouse 018. There’s a big variety to choose from. King Robbie, Slop House, David Rotundo and the Blue Canadians, Thirsty Blues Band, and Spoonful James are cold from the tap. I also provide some palate-cleansing […]

Feed Update
Posted in Uncategorized on 12 June 2005

If you noticed horrifically slow download speeds for Roadhouse 017 (as I did), the problem has been solved. We split the shows up between two servers and adjusted the feed accordingly. I’m once again seeing reasonable download speeds for some of the shows. To equally divvy out the bandwidth, I split these up between even […]

iPodderX Alert
Posted in Uncategorized on 12 June 2005

Given the size of the metered bandwidth bill The Roadhouse got hit with in May, this is a big, big issue that should be addressed immediately by the iPodderX team. I’m sure I’m not alone in being assessed for unnecessary bandwidth, directly related to poor code in their commercial product.

The Roadhouse 017
Posted in Uncategorized on 11 June 2005

New! Bittorrent Download The Roadhouse 017 is available for download from the above image link. The 17th edition of The Roadhouse is pure butt-shakin’ music. Johnny Flash and the Rockets, Brother Chunk and the Chicken Funk, Joe White, Nobby Reed Project, and Juke House Kings sit at the very front edge of the musical wave. […]

Looking For Testers
Posted in Uncategorized on 10 June 2005

I’m happy to say that the Bittorrent piece is up and working, though I have a few small issues to work through this evening with the feed. Today, I’m looking for a few willing souls to test just the download portion of the system. Details and some requests/requirements below. First, I’m glad to announce a […]

More Changes Coming
Posted in Uncategorized on 9 June 2005

With the help of some good friends, I’m nearing the release of the BitTorrent feed for The Roadhouse. I should have further details either later this evening or tomorrow. I can tease you, though, with a bit of information: the need to add a bittorrent feed for The Roadhouse has led to a tool that […]

Heads Up
Posted in Uncategorized on 7 June 2005

Here’s a quick heads-up on a few site- and feed-related items. First up are the good problems to have. The Roadhouse has put a sizeable strain on the co-oped hosting server. We’re sucking up everyone else’s bandwidth. If my projected bandwidth numbers for June are even close to accurate, we’re likely to top 1 TB […]

Other Great Blues
Posted in Uncategorized on 6 June 2005

I haven’t mentioned these guys in quite awhile. If you love blues, these podcasts (in no particular order of preference) are well worth a subscription. Raven ‘n’ Blues Beardo’s Bandana Blues Blues Revue Austin Riffs With blues music such a scarcity on traditional airwaves, it’s great to see these ‘casts growing each week. They all […]

Another New Home
Posted in Uncategorized on 6 June 2005

If you’re seeing my mug in the header image, you’ve found your way to the new location of The Roadhouse. The migration from TypePad to WordPress is complete, and everything seems to be in working order. I still have a bit of tidying up to do but, overall, I’m pretty happy with the new tool. […]

The Roadhouse 016

Spread the Word
Posted in Uncategorized on 1 June 2005

I’ve added a CafePress store for The Roadhouse with a full assortment of Roadhouse swag. Since coffee is a staple of all blues geeks, mugs are a good place to start. I’ve got three in the store, including the mondo mug (with a new wraparound Roadhouse header design – more on that later), the regular […]
