Feed Update

12 June 2005 No Comment

If you noticed horrifically slow download speeds for Roadhouse 017 (as I did), the problem has been solved.

We split the shows up between two servers and adjusted the feed accordingly. I’m once again seeing reasonable download speeds for some of the shows. To equally divvy out the bandwidth, I split these up between even and odd numbered shows. Because the original server is still in a throttled mode, the even-numbered shows will still crawl. Hopefully, we’ll be able to lift the throttling on that machine in the next 24 hours. The new show – 017 – is flying out at a good clip.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that if you’re using iPodderX, your client has been banned from the new server. I suspect that it will be from the old server, as well. Until the coders who wrote the code you paid for decide that the multiple downloads issue is really a critical issue, and fix the problem, we’ll continue to block that client. In fact, if you’re another podcaster experiencing bandwidth issues related to the iPodderX client, I’d encourage you to do the same – block them until they decide to quit costing providers money. Email me, and I’ll send you the apache directive to block requests based on this user-agent.
