Feeling Somehow Younger
When I was a teen, calling the local radio station to make a dedication was a very cool thing to do. I was actually more often the dedicator than the dedicatee, but it didn’t really make a difference. It was cool just to be able to influence the selections played on the radio.
I got an email this afternoon from Marcus over at The Scene Zine, noting that he’d used B.B. Chung King and the Buddaheads’ “Company Graveyard” in his show #7—and that he’d dedicated it to me and The Roadhouse. He even stepped a bit outside his normal format to play it.
That was very cool and kind of flashed me back to the days when dedications were (while usually a male < -> female thing) the norm for late-night radio.
Thanks, Marcus.
