Transparent Changes
I’m making still more small and mostly transparent changes to the site.
Sometime today, I’ll be pointing the Feedburner feed to the real site feed. WordPress recognizes media files in an entry and adds all the appropriate enclosure information to the feed. That makes it seem a bit redundant to hand-roll the current mp3 feed. Losing the hand-rolled feed will help shorten the process of posting shows. Of course, I’ll still have to adjust the BitTorrent feed, but it’s still a few less steps at posting time.
If you’re subscribed to the Feedburner feed, you won’t need to make any changes to your client – please stay subscribed to that feed. If you’re subscribed to one of the other few stray feeds floating around, subscribing to the feedburner feed would be greatly appreciated. It provides quite a bit of information that’s interesting and useful. (For example, in the first full day of the ITunes 4.9 release, iTunes is already the second most-used tool for grabbing The Roadhouse feed.) And, as I’ve said, it eliminates a few unneccesary steps when I post the shows. You’ll see fewer entries in the feed – probably no more than three at a time. And, you may see it under a slightly different name based on the title of the post rather than the titles I’ve inserted into the feed. Other than that, your experience should be seamless.
Thanks. Streamlining my process can only help to avoid long Saturdays.

have you thought of adding the album art (where avalible) for the artists into the song feed so that iTunes will cycle through them? I realise you do alot to get the show done in the first place, but the tip sheet about it on apple.com says it doesnt take long.
Love the show man,
John from Louisiana
I was just looking through that, John. I’ve been exploring the whole iTunes podcast interface for two days, now. It’s a pretty amazing deal. I’ll have to give this a shot (along with all the other iTunes goodies) in the next few shows.
Nice music on the midnight snack….love your show
Thanks. This was pretty fun to do, and disproportionately less work than a full show.
This link was to the 128 stereo version. The Podshow version is actually 192 mono.
