I received a nice package from Jan Mittendorp of Black and Tan records yesterday: 10 CDs of recent Black and Tan releases. I immediately set out to rip and drop them into my growing music collection, then push them to the new 60 GB iPod. The morning has been filled with fine, fine blues. It almost makes work, well, workable.

Expect a cut or two from Black and Tan in each show for quite awhile. Even though I’m working on permissions from several other great blues labels, Jan was the first to really step up and make the music of his artists podsafe for The Roadhouse listeners. If you get the chance, drop Jan a note of thanks for his visionary actions. More importantly, if you like what you hear, support the artists by purchasing the music. Dollars in the pockets of these artists will sure help to spread the word about the impact of podcasting.
