Issues With iTunes

11 September 2005 3 Comments

Some listeners have been reporting problems with the iTunes feed for The Roadhouse. iTunes occasionally reports that The Roadhouse feed is unavailable by noting it with an exclamation mark in the left margin of the podcasts section. I’ve seen the issue myself and can offer a solution, if you’re willing to take a few easy steps.

  1. Unsubscribe from the current Roadhouse feed in iTunes
  2. Drag the Feedburner icon from the right side of this page into the iTunes podcasts section.
  3. Alternatively, you can drag this link into iTunes.

That should solve the problem. iTunes doesn’t seem to have any problem with the Feedburner feed. That’s odd, as the feed it does have a problem with is the base feed for Feedburner.

I tried to download #30 on Sunday and had no success. I unsubscribed and moved the Feedburner icon into iTunes and it attempted to download, but after a minute “!” again. I unsubscribed and moved “this link” into iTunes, the same story. I tried again this morning, Monday, and no luck. I had download iTunes update over the weekend and maybe that is causing a problem. I looked for a bittorrent feed for #30 but there wasn’t one yet.

Love the show, really missed my Monday morning fix!

I had a brief domain outage this morning. That may have compounded the problem (it does help to remember to renew a domain name in time!). I also caught a few small issues in the rss feed, including a bad date. I’ve made all the necessary changes to validate the feed, so you might want to try again.

I’ve been listening to the Roadhouse for months and love it. I’ve also been trying to get all my friends to join up with some success. Last night, though, after downloading iTunes 5 and iPod updater 2.3, my iPod won’t accept any Roadhouse podcasts that came through iTunes. All the earlier podcasts, which were downloaded from elsewhere, are still on the iPod. All the Roadhouse podcasts from after june 25th have been wiped from the iPod, but are still in my iTunes library. But these won’t load onto the iPod. Love your show, Tony, but until Apple straightens this out, I’ll have to listen from the hard drive or burn CDs.
