The Roadhouse 040
It’s the Thanksgiving holiday week in the US, but you don’t have to be a US listener to be thankful for great music and a great medium from which to enjoy it. So, join in the Thanksgiving feast of great blues music served up by the 40th Roadhouse podcast. The main course includes John Hammond, Margarette Evans, Tinsley Ellis, Byther Smith, and Susan Tedeschi. That’s just the turkey and stuffing. I’ve also got side dishes and desserts galore in the form of a Roadhouse Rewound segment, listener comments and a few holiday-related surprises during the meal. There’s no better way to kick off a short work week than with the finest blues you’ve never heard.

Thanks for playing Mighty Lester, Tony. I go swing dancing to those guys whenever they come to the Durham Armory down here, and they always put on a great show. Have you been in touch with Lenny? I’ll have to let him know he got into the Roadhouse.
Thanks, Dave. Lenny did send me a file for the show, but it wasn’t the one I played. I actually played “Swingin’ At Lester’s” in last Monday’s IndieFeed Blues feed and knew from the first few bars that it was the perfect opening instrumental for The Roadhouse. I didn’t really make the connection to the file he sent until after I’d put this week’s Roadhouse together.
Tony – Thanks a TON for giving us a spot on the Roadhouse! What an honor and a surprise! I was out of town so I missed the last two weeks. I came to work, downloaded them and about fell out of my chair when Swingin at Lesters kicked in! Thanks so much!
It was my pleasure, Lenny. It was the perfect Roadhouse opener.
