The Roadhouse 065

16 May 2006 3 Comments

This edition is a tip of The Roadhouse snap-brim to the 2006 Blues Music Awards and the friends of the podcast who won them. Where we features the indies last week, this week we look to the big time in the bright lights of Memphis. And, that’s not to say that these award-winning artists are the only great blues artists around. The entire hour is a solid selection of blues. Throw in a Roadhouse Rewound segment and a new Roadhouse contest, and you’re standing at the front edge of another hour of the finest blues you’ve never heard – the 65th Roadhouse Podcast.

Note: An extended server outage over the weekend prevented posting the show 65 announcement. The show was available on Saturday, as always, to feed subscribers. Show notes will follow in the next few days.

Just discovered your podcast on iTunes and wanted to say THANKS for a GREAT blues show. So hard to find blues music anywhere. I have a radio program on a low power community radio station, 97.7 FM, in Great Barrington, MA. Last Sunday of every month from 7 pm—9 pm EDT. (Live web streaming at http://www.berksireradio.org.) You remind me of my own show! I usually encourage listeners to Tune It In and Turn It UP! That is what I’ll do with you podcast from now on.

    Thanks, Phat Man.

You’re right … it’s been pretty tough to find blues music in the past several years. But podcasting has made this great music much easier to find. There are an ever-growing numnber of blues podcasts out there, all well worth a listen. You gotta love how technology advances to allow us to find the things we love.

I started listening to show 65 close to the end of my shift and threw the unlistened part of the show on in my car on the way home.

The wacky part is to get home I take the 401 from Windsor to Woodslee, ON - about a 20 minute ride – and the next thing I know I’m listening to Glamourpuss sing a song called ‘Driving 401’. When I heard the song mention the O.P.P. I knew they were singing about the road I was on….blues karma.
