One Less Number
I’ve talked a lot about how many opportunities there are for Roadhouse listeners to leave audio comments. In fact, I talked about it last week and finally received a comment on The Roadhouse Comments Line.
Okay—there’s actually one less way. I recently took Windows completely off the latptop. A fresh Ubuntu install solved the wireless problems that had plagued me for the past few years. GtkPod, CastPodder and Sharp Musique filled in the iTunes and podcast functionality for the iPod. With those critical issues resolved, I happily kissed my Windows XP Home installation goodbye. I just forgot about one app – my eVoice player, used to retrieve and play audio messages from The Roadhouse Comments Line.
So, if you know of a way to play back these .evc files in Linux, please let me know. And, if you left me an audio comment on that line this week, please either re-send it as an attachment to rhblues at gmail.com, or send me an Odeo from the sidebar.

I read at http://www.roadhousepodcast.com/
‘bout you looking for a Linux-able app to play your evc (j2 Global or eVoice) files.
I just read from an eVoice subscriber (paid user I guess) that eVoice will send the voicemail attachments in their Emails to you in a Macintosh compatible format, and that format turns out to be a common WAV file.
Linux can play a WAV file, yes?
RSVP
Have you used the “file” command to see what format the evc file is?
mplayer or xine can play nearly every sound/video format out there.
