Welcome Arhoolie

23 July 2007 No Comment

Thanks to Tom at Arhoolie Records for providing permissions this morning to include their artists in The Roadhouse. That brings to 19 the total of great blues labels participating in podcasting via The Roadhouse.

Arhoolie began in 1960 with a 250-copy LP pressing of Mance Lipscomb’s “Texas Sharecropper and Songster.” 47 years later, their catalog includes such blues greats as Lightnin’ Hopkins, Clifton Chenier, Lowell Fulson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Big Mama Thornton, Bukka White, Sonny Boy Williamson, and a host of other blues pioneers.

Arhoolie has been on my short list for some time, now. I’m excited to be able to include their artists in The Roadhouse. And, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the work of these legendary blues names.
